TIRANA – RYCO Secretary General Mr Đuro Blanuša and Ambassador of Germany in Albania Mr Peter Zingraf announced a new cooperation between RYCO and the German Federal Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Tirana today. The event held at the German Embassy in Tirana launched a new advocacy project that aims to increase young people’s understanding of the importance of regional youth cooperation, youth mobility and intercultural learning.
“RYCO is happy to continue a successful and fruitful partnership with the Federal Government of Germany. The continuous support we have been receiving from our German partners is of paramount importance for our work. Today, we are officially launching a new project that will make the Western Balkan youth more connected and thus contribute to greater visibility of RYCO in the region,” Mr Blanuša underlined.
“With this project, we want to support RYCO in building networks between the youth of the Western Balkans, despite the COVID-19 pandemic, and to establish digital exchange formats. I am pleased that Germany has been one of the supporting partners of RYCO since the first ideas of establishing this office. Reconciliation and a common future in the Balkans – that only works if we reach young people and bring them together,” Mr Zingraf highlighted.
The project to be realized by the end of the year will gather young people, governmental and civil society representatives dealing with youth-related topics, universities professors and students as well as the media. It will inform youth in the region about opportunities to engage in activities that build mutual understanding and reconciliation in the civic, social, educational, cultural and sports domains in the Western Balkans.
One of the project goals is the production of a new RYCO digital youth platform for daily promotion of regional youth cooperation, youth experiences and storytelling as well as sharing of concrete opportunities for youth in the region.
