Prespa Forum Dialogue: Youth Panel Discussion ”Road to 2030”

The Local Branch Office of RYCO in North Macedonia, in collaboration with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of North Macedonia, on the 8th of May organized a pre-event panel discussion as part of the prestigious Prespa Forum Dialogue. The panel, titled “Road to 2030,” brought together representatives from various youth organizations actively engaged in EU enlargement policy.

The vibrant discussion, moderated by Ms. Anja Bebekovska, the RYCO Local Program Officer, featured an esteemed lineup of speakers. One of the panelists was Mr. Blazen Maleski, the Youth Representative of North Macedonia in the Governing Board of RYCO, brought valuable insights to the conversation. Accompanying them were experienced youth representatives from diverse organizations in North Macedonia.

The panelists delved into critical topics that are central to shaping the future of the region. Regional cooperation, green transition, participation, employment opportunities, brain drain reduction, and accelerated EU integration were among the key themes explored. The panelists shared their perspectives, ideas, and experiences, aiming to contribute to meaningful discussions during the Prespa Forum Dialogue 2023.

In addition to the representatives from youth organizations, the panel discussion attracted ambassadors and representatives of foundations, fostering an inclusive and diverse dialogue. This convergence of voices and perspectives generated a rich and dynamic exchange of ideas.
Central to the discussion  to Mr. Maleski was the RYCO’s commitment to advocating for the better inclusion of youth in all aspects of political life, he highlighted the importance of involving young people in co-management processes, empowering them to actively participate in decision-making and shaping the future of their communities on a local and regional level.

Looking forward, the panelists emphasized the need for concrete and operational steps to accelerate EU integration in the region. They underscored the significance of supporting youth development and socio-economic growth as integral elements in the path towards EU membership. The strengthened European family by 2023 was also highlighted as a potential contributor to transatlantic security and the formation of a new Euro-Atlantic security system.

This youth-focused panel discussion served as a platform for meaningful dialogue, collaboration, and the exchange of ideas. It aimed to empower and amplify the voices of young people, recognizing their crucial role in driving positive change and shaping the future of the region.

We eagerly anticipate the main event of the Prespa Forum in Struga this June, as it provides an exceptional platform to foster regional cooperation, sustainable initiatives, and the meaningful inclusion of youth in decision-making processes.
