RYCO in Bosnia and Herzegovina Meets Ambassador of Japan

SARAJEVO – Head of the RYCO Local Branch Office in Bosnia and Herzegovina Ms Berina Bukva Alibašić and Local Program Officer Mr Ali Mahmutćehajić met with the Ambassador of Japan to Bosnia and Herzegovina H. E. Mr Makoto Ito. The meeting took place at the premises of the Embassy of Japan in Sarajevo on Monday, 04 October, and focused on the cooperation between RYCO and the Embassy of Japan in Bosnia and Herzegovina.


Ms Berina Bukva Alibašić presented the work, objectives and accomplishments of the RYCO Local Branch Office in Bosnia and Herzegovina by underlining the importance of the continued cooperation between the Embassy of Japan in Bosnia and Herzegovina and RYCO.

RYCO is very thankful for the continuous support of Japan and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Japan through the MIRAI program. It is very motivating to see almost three generations of young people from the Western Balkans that had an opportunity to travel, visit, learn and meet with their peers from the region to a destination such as Japan” Ms Berina Bukva Alibašić emphasized.

The significance of prosperous cooperation between RYCO and the Embassy of Japan in Bosnia and Herzegovina and RYCO was mutually confirmed by H. E. Mr Makoto Ito who pointed out the importance of intercultural learning and dialogue as well as youth exchanges in the region. The Ambassador added that the Embassy of Japan in Bosnia and Herzegovina will continue to support the MIRAI program and provide youth from the region an opportunity to visit Japan

Lastly, the Local Program Officer in LBO BiH Mr Ali Mahmutćehajić introduced the Ambassador with the SuperSchools project, a new RYCO program for school exchanges in the Western Balkan region with the objectives to support the peacebuilding and reconciliation process and intercultural learning and dialogue among schools, students and their communities.
