RYCO Local Branch Office in Montenegro meets with representatives of International Visegrad Fund and Slovakia Embassy in Montenegro

PODGORICA – Representative of the RYCO Local Branch Office in Montenegro Mrs Bojana Lalatovic
met with the representatives of International Visegrad Fund H.E. Petr Mareš, Executive Director of
the International Visegrad Fund, Mrs Marianna Neupauerová, Deputy Executive Director of the IVF,
and representatives of the Embassy of Slovakia in Montenegro, H.E. Boris Gandel, Ambassador of
the Republic of Slovakia, Mr Martin Balco, Deputy Head of Mission, in the premises of the Regional
Youth Cooperation Office – RYCO Local Branch Office in Podgorica.

Mr Mareš highlighted that among the objectives of the International Visegrad Fund, is building of
inclusive mindset, fostering of democratic debate, improvement of information and media literacy,
protection of cultural diversity, etc. The mission of the organization he represents, therefore, is
ideologically close to the RYCO mission in the Western Balkans, which creates space for the joint
actions.

Mrs Neupauerova said that the Fund is supporting networking and cooperation within the Visegrad
region and for more than a decade also cooperation with the Western Balkans and Eastern
Partnership countries. She also highlighted that the voice of progressive young people from the
Western Balkans should have a greater echo in Europe.

Mrs Lalatovic used this opportunity to present the mission of RYCO and its concrete achievements in
since the establishment as well as to present RYCO’s work on strengthening mutual understanding,
cooperation and regional reconciliation in the Western Balkans. She also introduced the esteemed
representatives of International Visegrad Fund and Slovakia Embassy with the regional projects and
local activities that RYCO and its Local Branch Office in Montenegro are currently implementing, as
well as with the future plans that will enable youth of the region to connect and exchange
experiences.

The meeting discussed possibilities for further strengthening of the cooperation between the RYCO
Visegrad Fund in the upcoming period. One of the key joint observations during the meeting was
that the potential of young people is tremendous and that inter and intraregional cooperation, and
meaningful involvement of youth in these pervasive processes, is a proper way to equip them with
skills and confidence to lead the region of the Western Balkans towards a more prosperous and
European future.
