Slovenia Discusses Cooperation with Western Balkans Youth

LJUBLJANA – Slovenian Minister of Foreign Affairs Mr Miro Cerar met the representatives of the Youth Council of Slovenia on Tuesday when they discussed Slovenian cooperation with the Western Balkans youth, the Ministry announced in a press release. RYCO welcomes the discussion and reiterates the importance of including the young people from the whole post-Yugoslav space in the reconciliation processes and youth cooperation efforts.

Having in mind the developments in Slovenia, RYCO also invites the Government of Croatia to open discussion with relevant actors in the youth policy filed in order to explore possibilities of cooperation with the youth from the region.

RYCO strongly believes that genuine reconciliation and cooperation in our region is not possible without young people and a number of stakeholders from Slovenia and Croatia. We are happy to welcome the Slovenian initiative to explore the possibilities of cooperation with the youth organizations from the region and we hope that the same will happen in Croatia in the upcoming period.

In a meeting with the high representatives of RYCO in December last year, the Ambassadors of Croatia and Slovenia in Albania underlined that the two countries are supporting the Berlin Process as one of the important initiatives for the region since it is fostering cooperation in the Western Balkans. Moreover, they expressed their willingness to directly support RYCO and its work as well as the interest to explore opportunities for direct involvement of young people from the two countries in the RYCO activities.
