2022 School of Policies within the Presidential Center for Political Education

Struga – A three-day capacity-building workshop for 35 participants of the Presidential School of Policies within the Presidential Center for Political Education, took place from 7th to the 9th of October in Struga, North Macedonia. The event was organized with the support of the Regional Youth Cooperation Office (RYCO) in close cooperation with the Presidential Center for Political Education.

RYCO Local Branch Office in North Macedonia had honors to support the fifth and last module of the 2022 School of Policies which targeted topics on regional youth cooperation, participation, reconciliation, and youth exchange. In the welcoming panel discussion Mr. Vladimir Gjorgjeski, Head of Local Branch Office of RYCO in North Macedonia gave a short overview of the RYCO as a Regional inter-governmental organization in supporting young people of the region by enhancing their capacities to become the leaders in topics that concern them. The panel discussion continued with the Secretary General of RYCO, Mr. Albert Hani, who gave an overview on “Conflict Transformation and Reconciliation in Western Balkans” followed by a fruitful discussion by the participants.

The 35 participants of the School of Policies coming from different backgrounds had the opportunity to be involved in discussions, working groups and exercises on regional cooperation and youth participation led by experienced panelists in these areas. In addition to the panel discussions, the participants had the opportunity to enhance their knowledge for RYCO work in the Western Balkans region focusing on advocacy and the importance of the reconciliation process in creating opportunities for meaningful youth participation, delivered by RYCO Heads of Local Branch Offices of Serbia and Kosovo*.

All the participants had the honor to be guests of the President of the Republic of North Macedonia, H.E. Stevo Pendarovski, where he welcomed them at the Presidential Villa “Biljana” in Ohrid. The participants received Certificates of participation and successful competition of the 2022 School of Policies from the President himself. The reception in Villa ‘Biljana’ started with an introductory speech by Prof. Dr. Aleksandar Spasov, President of the Program Advisory Board of the Presidential Center for Political Education and Advisor to the President on Foreign Policy, Internal Policy, and Constitutional Affairs.

Overall, the workshop was an excellent experience and learning process for youth participants of the 2022 School of Policies which will help them to develop and grow in their further professional life.
