BELGRADE – Ambassador Giaufret highlighted the importance of RYCO’s mission and work in the region, as one of the most prominent results of the Berlin process. H.E. used the opportunity to mention that young people and regional cooperation are very important for the EU, especially this year that is declared as the European Year of Youth. These two topics are very important in the WB6 context and RYCOs work which is crucial for regional cooperation.
LBO Serbia and Youth Representative in GB introduced H.E. with the mission and structure of RYCO, principle of co-management in the Governing Board, presented most relevant results from the first six years with a focus on EU funded projects, flagship program RYCO Superschools, initiatives and local activities of LBO Serbia. Having in mind that this year Serbia has taken over the chairmanship of RYCO GB, special activities in this regard have been announced.
H.E. emphasized that the EU appreciates RYCOs work in the region and pointed out the importance of RYCOs work in the reconciliation process and strives in enhancing peacebuilding. LBO Serbia team agreed that the support of the EU is crucial for the future of young people in this region and that cooperation with the EU Delegation to Serbia will be strengthened in the upcoming period through various projects and local activities.
