Volunteering Infrastructure in Kosovo* Continues Developing

PRISTINA – In the continuation of the ROUTE WB6 project, with the support of RYCO, Lens in collaboration with the Office for Good Governance of the Prime Minister’s Office in Kosovo organized the second follow-up meeting in Pristina last Thursday. The event aimed at drafting a concept document for volunteering, which is being developed as part of the fourth objective in the Government Strategy for Cooperation with Civil Society.

“Volunteering for a cause you love can provide you with the opportunity to turn your passion into a commitment and give you a chance to build your experience and skills. Voluntarism has the power to change young people’s lives and boost societies’ positive development,” RYCO Project Coordinator Ms Suela Kusi pointed out at the meeting.

The meeting gathered members of the official working group, ministries, international organizations and CSOs representatives. It had the full support of the project’s regional partners: Beyond Barriers, Young Researchers of Serbia, Youth Cultural Center – Bitola, ADP-Zid and SEEYN. The meeting’s participants shared their expertise in facilitating group discussions to assure inclusion of the best practices on volunteering from the region.

The ROUTE WB6 project is being implemented by RYCO and six partners from the Western Balkans with the support of the Norwegian Ministry of Foreign Affairs. It aims to promote volunteering as a mean to achieving peace and reconciliation, improving volunteering infrastructure in the region, and developing a regional volunteering program. Also, it aims to mobilize youth and use volunteering as a mean to improving inter-ethnic collaboration, while fostering values that lead to reconciliation, stability and prosperity in the Western Balkans.
