OHRID – The Regional Youth Cooperation Office (RYCO) and the offices of the Friedrich-Ebert-Stiftung (FES) and Konrad-Adenauer-Stiftung (KAS) in Skopje, organized three-day training on “Enhancing capacities of youth wings of political parties 2023” which took place from 09 – 11 June, 2023 in Ohrid.
“Enhancing capacities of youth wings of political parties 2023” training is organized for the second year in a row and it’s aiming to strengthen the capacities in practical skills needed for effective policy-making of the youth wings of political parties.
The implementation of this training is closely related to the mission and vision of RYCO, aligned with the expertise and the goals of FES and KAS in the field, and aimed to encourage active cooperation among youth as a base for further local and regional development. The participants of the training were representatives from the youth wings of the political parties which have MPs in the Club on Youth Affairs and Policies of the Assembly.
During the opening session of the training, the welcoming address was delivered by Sherife Ismaili, Program Officer of the Local Branch Office of Regional Youth Cooperation Office; Valon Sadiki, Program Coordinator of the Friedrich Ebert Stiftung and Davor Pasoski, Program Manager of Konrad-Adenauer-Stiftung.
The training sessions included modules on priorities and recommendations of the youth of the political parties for improving the implementation of the Law on Youth Participation and Youth Policies, commitments for a better future for young people, the role of the media and politicians in creating an informed electorate, the domino effect and the destruction of the market for quality information.
Furthermore, the last day of the training was dedicated to a panel discussion with the presidents and other representatives from the highest leadership of the political parties’ youth, where the participants had the opportunity to discuss the enhancement of the policies for youth participation and mutual cooperation.
A key takeaway of the training was the development of the Joint Declaration of the youth wings of the political parties as a mechanism for increased youth participation and cooperation. When finalized, The Joint Declaration will be signed by the Presidents of the youth of political parties involved in its development, which provides a commitment of the youth wings of political parties to strongly support the process of enhancing the youth agenda in North Macedonia.
