SERBIA – The Regional Youth Cooperation Office (RYCO) Local Branch Office in Serbia and the OSCE Mission to Serbia are organizing the last online meetup of the series of online events “Among RYCO Friends” on 14 October 2021, starting at 12 h.
“Participatocracy – Excellent A+” will help highschool professors from Serbia to better understand the importance of youth participation in developing project ideas and later implementation of project activities. Various levels of participation and qualities of these involvements are important to include young people in the right way in activities which are developed for them, with them, as well in the process of the ideation and project application process.
A representative of the Union of Secondary School Students of Serbia as well coordinator of the school project supported by RYCO within its second Open Call will share their experiences and concrete tips and tricks on what is the best way to ensure active participation of young people as well as how to include marginalized groups and their needs.
This meetup will be an ideal opportunity for high schools interested in applying to Superschools Western Balkans Schools Exchange Scheme program to develop their ideas in a more creative, inclusive, participative and youth-friendly way. RYCO Superschools call aims at providing the ground for creating strong and sustainable bonds between secondary schools within the region and building long-term partnerships. By participating in this initiative, secondary schools will have the chance to apply and, if selected, implement school to school exchanges as well as to participate in the programme’s activities dedicated to their capacity building, networking and cooperation. The newly initiated Superschools initiative, is part of a multi donor project co-financed by the European Union and the German Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development and implemented by Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ) GmbH together with RYCO. Call for project ideas is open until 28 October 2021.
The event will be conducted in Serbian.

The last meetup, “Disco, Disco, Volunteering”, was held on 18 June 2021 and gathered over 50 young people from the Western Balkans interested in volunteering experiences and opportunities across the region. Young volunteers and those who have never participated in some volunteering activity discussed what volunteering is and what is not, heard experienced volunteers and got information on the Regional Cross-Border Volunteer Program Route WB6 program where participants explored the volunteering schemes developed within this program and its upcoming plans.
The series of online meetups #AmongRYCOfriends which is taking place throughout 2021, aims to offer an informal dialogue venue on issues that truly matter to civil society organisations, secondary schools and young people aspiring to advance regional youth cooperation. It is organized with the support of the OSCE Mission to Serbia.
