RYCO and Ministry of Education of Montenegro Encourage Youth Mobility and Cooperation

PODGORICA – Minister of Education of Montenegro Dr Damir Sehović and Head of the RYCO Local Branch Office in Montenegro Mr Edin Koljenović signed a memorandum of understanding between the two institutions in Podgorica last Thursday. The shared interest of RYCO and the Ministry which is mirrored in supporting young people, strengthening the capacities of their professors and promoting youth participation is officially formalized.

The joint activities of the Ministry and RYCO will encompass training, conducting of various researches, as well as sharing of know-how related to project grants, as well as to the evaluation of cross-border projects in the field of youth cooperation. Moreover, the parties will organize joint events, aiming at promoting and representing their activities to the relevant stakeholders in Montenegro, the region, as well as in the European Union, with a final goal to contribute to strengthening trust and cooperation.

The signing of the memorandum will offer schools from Montenegro several opportunities since RYCO is particularly focused on secondary schools` intercultural youth exchange projects – our third open call for project proposals is currently open but we also plan to organize the capacity building of secondary schools for developing and implementing such projects. Furthermore, in this endeavour of the two institutions, a special focus will be put on project coordinators/teachers, to strengthen their skills and allow them to implement the planned activities most efficiently.

The two representatives concluded that cooperation, as well as concrete activities, would encourage youth participation to a great extent and therefore raise awareness of the importance of fostering good relations throughout the region.
