RYCO in Montenegro Strengthens Youth Intercultural Competencies in Sports

KOLAŠIN – The RYCO Local Branch Office in Montenegro organized a Youth Camp on Intercultural Competencies in Sports that took place in Kolašin, from 10 to 13 October. It was organized in cooperation with the Directorate for Sports and Youth of Montenegro and the OSCE Mission to Montenegro.

The youth camp gathered fourteen young professionals from seven different sports associations with an aim of increasing their knowledge and understanding of intercultural competences and fostering youth cooperation in the field of sports.

The opening remarks were delivered by the Head of the RYCO Local Branch Office in Montenegro Mr Edin Koljenović, and Deputy Director of the Directorate for Sports and Youth of Montenegro Ms Ksenija Božović.

Mr Koljenović welcomed the young professionals and used the opportunity to thank the Directorate for Sports and Youth of Montenegro and the OSCE Mission to Montenegro for supporting the activity and present the work of RYCO.

“This camp represents a great opportunity for you to gain new competences, learn more about the intercultural dialogue, cooperate with youth from Montenegro, and hopefully in the future with your regional peers. RYCO is offering mobility opportunities for young people, motivating them to connect and get to know their neighbors first, instead of traveling only outside of Western Balkans,” Mr Koljenović emphasized.

Ms Božović added: “It is my great pleasure to greet you on behalf of the Directorate for Sports and Youth of Montenegro. The goal of this camp is to connect young sport’s professionals from different disciplines, improve your status and help you overcome prejudices and stereotypes. You have a great role in Montenegrin society and should serve as a positive example to new generations.”

This is the third time that the RYCO Local Branch Office in Montenegro successfully organizes the camp on the topic of intercultural competences in sports. Upon completion, participants were awarded certificates and invited to take part in future RYCO activities.
