RYCO in Serbia Discusses Youth Empowerment with Business Sector

BELGRADE Head of the RYCO Local Branch Office in Serbia Ms Ivana Antonijević and Youth Representative from Serbia in the RYCO Governing Board Mr Marko Kostić met with the Managing Director of the German-Serbian Chamber of Commerce (AHK Serbia) Mr Frank Aletter on Friday, 10 September. The meeting served to discuss the strategic orientation of RYCO in the next three-year period and the possibilities for closer cooperation in the future with AHK Serbia and the business sector in general.

Ms Antonijević emphasized the importance of the involvement of the business sector and respective stakeholders in the consultation processes for development of the new RYCO strategic plan for 2022-2024.

“It is of great significance for RYCO to conduct an inclusive process of strategic planning and therefore we are trying to include as many stakeholders as possible from different spheres of the society – local government, business, academia, civil sector, but also young people living in Serbia, especially vulnerable youth with fewer opportunities,” Ms Antonijević stated during the meeting.

For the purpose of collecting inputs from the business sector for the new RYCO strategy, the RYCO Local Branch Office in Serbia will organize a regional business forum in October 2021 which will take place in Belgrade. The regional forum will gather more than 80 representatives from relevant institutions and companies operating across Western Balkans, with the aim to collect their suggestions for the enhancement of connections among youth in the business sector. Moreover, it will also help explore ways in which the business cooperation and regional youth initiatives in this field could support reconciliation and create new opportunities for better understanding and empowerment of youth in the region.

Mr Aletter highlighted the support of AHK Serbia for regional cooperation and the removal of barriers within Western Balkans six, while acknowledging the work of RYCO in the field of youth. He concluded that AHK Serbia remains a strong supporter of all initiatives for strengthening the connectivity of youth in the business field.
