RYCO Meets President of Albania to Discuss Youth’s Role in Peacebuilding and Regional Cooperation

TIRANA – Peace requires collective responsibility and ongoing commitment, therefore the engagement of all stakeholders is crucial to ensure the sustainability and impact of RYCO’s peacebuilding and reconciliation efforts, this is the message from today’s meeting between RYCO Secretary General Albert Hani and President of Albania Bajram Begaj.

During the meeting, SG Hani outlined RYCO’s work in connecting young people across the region, breaking down barriers, and fostering intercultural dialogue.
“RYCO serves as a bridge for youth across the Western Balkans, enabling them to lead change and promote a culture of peace and collaboration,” SG Hani emphasized.

The meeting served as an opportunity to discuss ongoing initiatives led by RYCO and share insights on the impact of exchange programs at regional and local levels. In this context, SG Hani highlighted the importance of engaging all stakeholders, including political leaders, civil society, and international partners, to ensure the sustainability and impact of these efforts.

“It is important to continue investing in young people. Youth is not just the future, but an active force for positive change today leaders and builders of peace in our region,” SG Hani concluded.

Discussing the role of youth in peacebuilding, dialogue, and cooperation in WB6, President Begaj underscored Albania’s role in fostering regional cooperation. In this regard, President Begaj expressed strong support for RYCO’s work, praising the organization’s accomplishments in promoting mutual understanding and unity.

“The future lies in the hands of the youth. Their creativity and energy are essential for advancing sustainable development and Euro-Atlantic integration in the region,” he stated.

During the meeting, RYCO young team members Flutura Brakaj from LBO Albania and Anxhela Kokoshi, Communication Assistant, shared insights on how RYCO’s exchange programs and activities strengthen connections among young people, civil society organizations, and other youth actors across the region.

The meeting concluded with a reaffirmation of RYCO’s dedication to fostering cooperation and understanding among youth in WB6.
