RYCO Secretary General Discusses Youth Involvement with the President of the Assembly of North Macedonia

Skopje – In a step toward enhancing youth participation in decision-making, RYCO Secretary General Mr. Albert Hani met with Mr. Afrim Gashi, President of the Assembly of North Macedonia, to discuss the critical role of parliamentary work in shaping policies for young people.

During the meeting, Mr. Hani emphasized the importance of involving diverse young individuals in parliamentary work and ensuring transparency in policies and activities that affect young people.

He introduced RYCO’s objectives and programmatic goals, paving the way for future collaborations with youth from various backgrounds, particularly with the Parliamentary Club for Youth Affairs and Youth Policies in North Macedonia.

Mr. Gashi expressed his openness and readiness to partner with RYCO’s local office in Skopje, planning a series of discussions and public debates in Parliament that would involve all significant stakeholders in youth and youth policy.

Additionally, they discussed opportunities for bringing national interests to a regional level, highlighting the significance of regional cooperation from the perspectives of both parliaments and youth as partners.

Mr. Hani shared innovative ideas on how Parliament can become more accessible to youth and youth-led organizations, advocating for their inclusion in new approaches to public debates that resonate with their interests.

It is encouraging to witness such enthusiasm and political will regarding collaboration with youth and the prioritization of their needs in the political sphere.
