PODGORICA – The Regional Youth Cooperation Office (RYCO) and the Youth Network of Montenegro signed a Memorandum of Understanding on 8 February, to strengthen cooperation in the following period.
Head of the RYCO Local Branch Office in Montenegro Mr Edin Koljenović and President of the Youth Network of Montenegro Executive Committee Mr Miloš Marković agreed that the Memorandum of Understanding represents a product of recognizing the strong potential and will for cooperation by both parties.
“The potential of cooperation refers primarily to the joint work on activities, projects, and policies that young people from Montenegro and the region, as well as youth organizations and those dealing with youth issues, will benefit from,” Mr Koljenović pointed out.
Mr Marković used the opportunity to praise the importance of signing the Memorandum with an organization such as RYCO, on behalf of 35 civil society organizations working with and for youth in Montenegro.
“The signing of the Memorandum of Understanding with an organization that connects young people on the regional level is of great importance to the Youth Network, and it represents the first of many steps that will be jointly made in the future,” Mr Marković concluded.
The newly formed Youth Network of Montenegro consists of 35 civil society organizations that bring together and work with young people in various areas of youth development and the improvement of youth’s position in society. The main goal of the Youth Network is to represent the rights and interests of young people, create and advocate for solutions to systemic challenges, connect youth policy actors and strengthen the capacities of member organizations. It is formally recognized as an umbrella organization and a representative alliance of organizations operating in the field of youth policies, which has already implemented several activities to determine priorities for young people and their development. The key task of the Youth Network is to encourage and affirm youth as active citizens that are motivated to proactively participate in the decision-making processes, community development, as well as policymaking and implementation.
