RYCO Strengthens Capacities of High Schools and CSOs in Macedonia

KRUSEVO – The RYCO Local Branch Office in Macedonia organized a four-day capacity building training for project design in the areas of youth mobility, cooperation and activism in the Western Balkans. The training took place from 11 to 14 September in Krusevo, Macedonia and gathered 33 representatives of high schools and recently established civil society organizations.

The event aimed to provide participants with skills for project writing, but also development of projects that deal with RYCO priorities – intercultural learning, dealing with the past, youth participation and social inclusion. The training’s goal was to ensure better quality of the future project proposals for RYCO’s open calls, but also of other foundations operating in the region. Furthermore, the training was an opportunity for networking and partnership building between the participants, as well as the peer to peer sharing of experiences and practices.

One of the participants, the teacher from a high school in Makedonski Brod, Ms Dijana Jovanoska said that the training helped her to raise her abilities to easily identify youth related problems, convert them into a carefully thought project proposal, and jointly with her students find ways to solve them.

Furthermore, Principle of the High School “Orce Nikolov” in Skopje Mr Mitko Dimovski, who also participated in the training, expressed his gratitude for opportunity to be present at such event and said that the training was of high importance for teachers and directors of the schools because from one side it gave more opportunities to students to be part of regional and European processes, and from the other it builds up the institutional capacities of the schools.

The training was realized with the support of the OSCE Mission to Skopje which is continuously supporting the work of the RYCO Local Branch Office in Macedonia.

Due to high interest for such type of activities, RYCO and OSCE Mission to Skopje are planning to organize the second training for less experienced high schools and CSOs prior to the official launch of the second RYCO Open Call for Project Proposals.
