RYCOgnizing Friends of Youth, Peace, and Regional Cooperation

In recognition of the unwavering support for RYCO and its peacebuilding mission in the Western Balkans, RYCO Secretary General Albert Hani has initiated a formal process to honor individuals and organizations that have played a pivotal role in advancing our work.

As a token of appreciation for their dedication, selected individuals have been awarded the “RYCOgnized Friend of RYCO” medallion, a personalized honor, alongside a “RYCOgnition” Certificate, officially acknowledging their contributions to youth empowerment, peacebuilding, and regional cooperation.

This initiative marks the beginning of a regional and European tour led by the Secretary General to express gratitude to individuals who have supported RYCO’s mission over the years.

In this regards, SG Hani presented medallions and certificates of appreciation to German Ambassador to Albania, H.E. Karl Bergner and French Ambassador to Albania, H.E. Catherine Suard, Director of GIZ in Albania, Sonia Kurz, GIZ Team leader, Jasmin Valjevac, and Pierre Raynaud Counsellor for Cooperation and Cultural Affairs, French Embassy during their visit to RYCO’s Head Office.

The tour proceeded at the end of January in Berlin, where SG Hani presented medallions and certificates to longstanding partners from German Federal Foreign Office (GFFO), including Director of Southeast Europe in the GFFO, Michael Reiffenstuel, Deputy Head of the stabilization in regions division in GFFO, Sebastian Gerhardt, Head of division of Western Balkan at GFFO Niels von Redecker and GFFO’s Tomislav Kajic and Julius Heise.

As a token of appreciation, RYCO SG Hani presented one more RYCOgnized medallion and certificate to Franco-German Youth Office (OFAJ) Secretary General Tobias Bütow, expressing special recognition for vital contribution to sister organization that serves as a source of inspiration and example of good work and Alexander Beribes, Head of the  Konrad Adenauer Foundation (KAS) Berlin Directorate for the Wester Balkans and South East Europe, , as well as Alexander Dörffel, Christiane Hullmann and Joachim Rücker for their for their invaluable support in shaping RYCO’s mission.

A particularly meaningful moment of the visit was dedicated to honoring RYCO’s Advisory Board members, Frank Morawietz and Norbert Bekermann. Their ongoing support and expertise have been instrumental in shaping RYCO’s work, and they were recognized with medallions and certificates of appreciation.

The process of honoring individuals and organizations who played an important role in supporting our work will continue throughout the SG’s mandate, ensuring that those who have contributed to our shared vision are duly recognized.
