UN Supports RYCO in Fulfilling Its Mission

TRIANA – RYCO Secretary General Mr Đuro Blanuša met on Tuesday with United Nations Resident Coordinator and UNDP Resident Representative in Albania Mr Brian J. Williams with whom he discussed possible ways of cooperation between RYCO and UN agencies in Albania and the Western Balkans.

Secretary General Mr Blanuša updated Mr Williams about ongoing RYCO activities and steps which are currently undertaken by the organization. He presented to the UN Resident Coordinator foreseen activities planned to be fulfilled by the end of the year and introduced the strategic planning process of RYCO which aims to develop and adopt RYCO Strategic Plan.

Mr Blanuša emphasized that the Strategic Plan should be used as a tool for communication, joint coordination and planning of activities with RYCO’s partners.

Mr Williams informed Mr Blanuša that UN resident coordinators of the Western Balkans held a meeting mid-July in order to discuss ways of support to RYCO.

They concluded that the two organizations are on the same line especially when it comes to the peace building processes in the region and highlighted that UN agencies can be valuable partners of RYCO keeping in mind their experiences and resources which they possess.
