RYCO’s Local Branch Office in North Macedonia, together with UNFPA, UNDP and OSCE Mission, supported the implementation of a three-day capacity building workshop aimed at strengthening the capacities on the Youth, Peace and Security Ageda of the Youth Officers from local-level public institutions, as a joint initiative supported by the Ministry of Social Policy, Demography and Youth.
The three-day workshop covered topics focused on mandates, responsibilities, and contribution to advancing structured youth participation and the Youth, Peace and Security (YPS) agenda; Legal and policy framework: key provisions of the Law on Youth Participation and Youth Policies, and its implications for institutional roles at the central level, National youth policy framework: National Youth Strategy (2023–2027) and Action Plan (2026–2027), including implementation, coordination, and monitoring mechanisms, among the others.
Throughout the activity, participants actively exchanged experiences, shared diverse perspectives, and contributed many constructive ideas and practical approaches that enriched the overall discussion.
Initiatives like these once again confirmed the importance of creating spaces where institutions and stakeholders can come together, learn from one another, and build stronger connections, ultimately contributing to more inclusive and effective support for young people.
These joint efforts to advance the YPS Agenda on local level by the RYCO’s Local Branch Office in Skopje, UNFPA and UNDP will continue in the upcoming period – through the formal educational system and engagement by the municipalities in North Macedonia.
