Young People of Albania Should Take Key Role in Drafting Youth Policies

TIRANA – RYCO Local Branch Officer in Albania Mr Kreshnik Loka took part in the Hearing with Civil Society Organisations of Albania on Youth Policy and Youth Participation organized on Tuesday by the Western Balkans Follow-up Committee, part of the European Economic and Social Committee (EESC).

The EESC is undertaking a few days of intense meetings with officials and civil society representatives to create an overview of the situation in which the young people are living in Albania. EESC had the opportunity to hear an overall statement on the challenges in the education system, labour market and youth participation in the society during the Tuesday’s hearing.

Mr Loka presented the key facts and challenges during the Hearing with Albanian CSOs on the challenges in youth participation in the society. While presenting the picture of the current reality of young people in Albania, he also shared the good example of RYCO Governing Board and the role of the Youth Representative in it. RYCO is the first regional organization that gives the opportunity to the young people to be involved in its highest decision-making body. The meeting highlighted the importance of having young people involved in all stages of drafting youth polices in order to achieve its effective implementation.

The EESC will continue their visit in Tirana by meeting high officials and collect their perspectives on the challenging that youth is facing in Albania in order to create a complete picture of the situation.
