RYCO in Montenegro Meets President of Parliament of Montenegro

PODGORICA – Head of the RYCO Local Branch Office in Montenegro Mr Edin Koljenović met with the President of the Parliament of Montenegro Mr Aleksa Bečić in Podgorica last  Friday. The meeting discussed possibilities for further strengthening of the cooperation between the RYCO Local Branch Office in Montenegro and the Parliament of Montenegro in the upcoming period.

Mr Koljenović took the opportunity to present RYCO’s work on strengthening mutual understanding, cooperation and regional reconciliation in the Western Balkans but also introduced the President of the Parliament with the regional projects that RYCO is currently implementing, as well as with the upcoming plans that will enable youth of the region to connect and exchange experiences.

During the meeting, both parties discussed the mechanisms for connecting the youth of the Western Balkans in order to fortify their cooperation, but also to strengthen youth policy at the national level.

Highlighting the importance of the engagement and connection of youth organizations on the regional level, Mr Bečić expressed the readiness on behalf of the Parliament of Montenegro to contribute to the improvement of youth policies and programs. He pointed out that the Parliament will be open for initiatives aimed at intensifying cooperation and strengthening the position of young people in the region. 

The President expressed his full support for the activities of RYCO, especially for the mission and vision for the Western Balkans that RYCO cherishes and actively works on.

The meeting concluded that the RYCO Local Branch Office in Montenegro in cooperation with the Parliament of Montenegro would work on launching initiatives aimed at sending strong political messages on the importance of regional cooperation and reconciliation. This goal will be achieved through greater involvement of the Parliament of Montenegro in supporting regional youth programs created within the Berlin Process.
