Pristina – A working breakfast with media representatives, held in Pristina on November 14, 2024, marked another step in RYCO’s ongoing efforts to strengthen collaboration with journalists across the region. The event, hosted by RYCO Secretary General Mr. Albert Hani and Head of the Local Branch Office in Kosovo*, Ms. Krenare Gashi Krasniqi, welcomed journalists from various Kosovo media outlets, engaging them in insightful discussions on RYCO’s mission and initiatives aimed at empowering youth.
The gathering provided a unique opportunity to discuss the impactful role of RYCO’s programs across the Western Balkans over the past 7 years, fostering reconciliation and cooperation among youth. Ms. Gashi Krasniqi introduced key initiatives, such as the “Peace Broadcasters” program, which was piloted in Kosovo in partnership with Deutsche Welle, underlining RYCO’s emphasis on regional projects that incorporate media as a tool for peace-building.
The event underscored the importance of youth-focused media coverage and discussed how the Peace Broadcasters program and other initiatives support topics like transitional justice, dealing with the past, and peace journalism. Journalists present acknowledged the critical role of media in advancing these themes and discussed new avenues for collaboration to enhance the representation of youth voices in the media landscape.
Concluding the meeting, participants highlighted the potential for further cooperation, exploring ideas for incorporating journalists into RYCO’s ongoing programs and developing new projects to amplify young people’s perspectives in regional media.
