RYCO Consults Over 1400 Young People on Digital Tools

WESTERN BALKANS – Within the framework of the advocacy project “A Better Region Starts with Youth”, implemented with the support of the Federal Republic of Germany, RYCO gathered 130 young people from the Western Balkans in a series of twelve online consultations, which took place in October 2020. During the online meetings, young people discussed their ideas and preferences on digital tools and shared information on their online habits, interests and needs.

A key undertaking of the project and of the online consultation process was also the Online Survey on Digital Tools which was launched in October. More than 1300 young people took part in the regional online survey. The consultation process and its activities revealed that youth of the Western Balkans are interested in digital opportunities that can connect them with one another across the region.

“We want to hear more about each other,” young participants said during the online consultations.

The insights gained from the consultation meetings and the online survey will be incorporated into the design of a digital platform that will connect the Western Balkan youth, despite the COVID-19 pandemic and other challenges. Aiming to become a new online meeting point for young people of the region, the digital youth platform will contain various topics from regional youth cooperation and youth opportunities to promotion of youth experiences, discovering young talents of the region and exploring the Western Balkans.

“A Better Region Starts with Youth” project is being implemented by RYCO with the financial support of the Federal Republic of Germany. It aims to increase young people’s understanding of regional cooperation, youth mobility and intercultural learning. The project will be implemented until the end of December 2020.
