RYCO Strengthens Capacities of High Schools and CSOs in Montenegro

PODGORICA – Regional Youth Cooperation Office (RYCO) in cooperation and with the support of the OSCE Mission to Montenegro organized a four-day Capacity Building Training for the representatives of CSOs and high schools from Montenegro on 25 – 28 September in Podgorica. Twenty-seven participants from a number of cities and regions in Montenegro attended the training. Strengthening capacities of potential RYCO beneficiaries in project proposal design and implementation of intercultural youth exchange programs where the training’s focus.

Welcoming the participants, RYCO Local Branch Officer in Montenegro Mr Edin Koljenović thanked the participants for showing the interest to take part in the training, and the OSCE Mission to Montenegro for being a friend and a partner of the RYCO Local Branch Office in Montenegro from the very beginning.

The training is important because it was created as a result of recognition of the clear need to work on strengthening capacities of civil society organizations and high schools to write project proposals, but also to implement intercultural youth exchange programs, Mr Koljenović said.

Praising the results achieved by RYCO in the first year of its operations, General Director for Youth in the Ministry of Sports of Montenegro and member of the RYCO Governing Board Mr Nenad Koprivica said that the Government of Montenegro supports the establishment and functioning of RYCO and the Local Branch Office, and recalled that his Government was the first among the WB6 governments to met all the obligations towards the organization defined by the Agreement on the Establishment of RYCO.

Opening the training, Deputy Head of OSCE Mission to Montenegro Ms Siv-Katrine Leirtroe emphasized that the OSCE sees RYCO as very important because it works on enhancing youth mobility and social inclusion in the region. She underlined that this is of a crucial importance for the future of young people since this is a chance for them to change the view on their neighbors through the opportunities offered by RYCO.
