What Political Parties Offer to Young People in BiH?

SARAJEVO – RYCO Local Branch Officer in Bosnia and Herzegovina Ms Berina Bukva presented RYCO activities, capacities and its strategic components at the round table “What Political Parties Offer to Young People in BiH?” hosted by the Westminster Foundation for Democracy on Tuesday in Sarajevo. The representatives of the political parties presented their programs for youth and had a quality discussion with the representatives of civil youth sector.

Ms Bukva emphasized that in RYCO’s strategical work for better region and youth mobility, political actors and policy decision makers are recognized as relevant and valuable partners.

“I believe that our ongoing projects in the region can be a model of how young people can and are willing to work, travel and be responsible citizens of our societies. But first, they need to have an opportunity. The fact is also that young people must be more proactive in creating and searching for opportunities, but only with relevant and sustainable programs and partners in governmental institutions, they can be involved in cooperation and be a valuable resource in the region, not only in Bosnia and Herzegovina. The intercultural dialogue that RYCO fosters is bringing more than just mobility in the region – it assists in constructive dialogues, mutual understanding and democratization of our societies,” said RYCO Local Branch Officer in BiH.

During the meeting, it was highlighted that there is an important spotlight on all levels of government in Bosnia and Herzegovina after the 2018 elections. Moreover, the meeting concluded that the Youth Strategy on the national level is missing and that there is a lack of implementation of the existing youth strategies of entities and a lack of mechanisms which include young people in decision making processes.
