100 schools from the region conclude a successful chapter of collaboration
Sarajevo – More than 100 students and teachers from the region gathered this week, in the vibrant city of Sarajevo, to mark the successful finalization of the 2nd cycle of the Superschools Program. RYCO Superschools Western Balkans School Exchange Scheme aims to support the peacebuilding and reconciliation process and intercultural learning and dialogue among high schools, students, and their communities. The project is providing the ground for creating strong and sustainable bonds, by organizing school exchanges.
The closing event was a celebration of the friendships and collaboration, as students engaged in an immersive youth camp. This gathering provided a platform for fruitful discussions focused on RYCO’s core thematic areas: intercultural dialogue, reconciliation, and peacebuilding. Through interactive workshops, group activities, and expert-led sessions, students from diverse secondary schools across the region delved into meaningful conversations and exchanged ideas.
When asked about this transformative experience, Sara Križić, student from Catholic School Centre “Saint Francis” Tuzla, shared:
“The Superschools experience was something for me that I will never forget and that I will forever cherish. I met so many great people down the line and experienced things that I would have not experienced if it weren’t for this program and for the whole organisation. Not only have I gained friends for life, I have also gained knowledge that I would never want to replace with anything in the world”
The Superschools program, spanning two open calls, has supported 160 schools, fostering 80 partnerships and involving 320 teachers. Over 2000 young individuals have been actively engaged, contributing to the program’s far-reaching impact.
To culminate this chapter on a high note, students and educators were honored with various awards, recognizing their exceptional creativity and collaboration demonstrated throughout the exchange implementations.
As we bid adieu to this phase of the Superschools’ journey, we look forward to continuing our commitment to nurturing a future where dialogue, understanding, and cooperation prevail, paving the way for a harmonious and prosperous Western Balkans.
