TIRANA – The UNICEF Country Office in Albania in close consultation with UNICEF Country Offices in other WB6 participants and RYCO will hire an international consultant who will work on mapping best practices in the region (and beyond) in intercultural dialogue, social cohesion and peace building as well as in developing age-appropriate methodologies to be used by schools as a means for fostering dialogue and social cohesion.
The main objective of this consultancy will be to:
– Review best practices in the region (and beyond) including RYCOs experiences regarding successful methodologies for enhanced social cohesion, peace building and intercultural dialogue and undertake a mapping of best practices, as a means for ensuring an evidence-based programming;
– Develop a methodology for teacher training in peace building and social cohesion transformative pedagogies, based on best practices previously identified;
– Facilitate a training of trainers (TOT) and pilot the methodology developed.
The assignment will be conducted by an international consultant in a collaborative effort with UNICEF and RYCO team. The consultant will be hired to identify best practices used across the region and beyond. The mapping will be undertaken adopting age and gender sensitivity lenses, highlighting the role of gender and empowerment of girls in peacebuilding processes and social cohesion of the WB6 in the region. The mapping will also bring exemplary experiences on how peacebuilding is mainstreamed and enrooted across the curricula and teaching processes against the acknowledged phenomena of using peacebuilding as a superficial and separate methodology. Best practices used by UNICEF in engaging with young people such as the UPSHIFT programme developed in Kosovo* and currently implemented in the Region will be explored. Other issues pertinent to the challenges identified in WB6 will also be explored.
Particular attention will be paid to youth-led practices. The international consultant will be required to visit Albania as well as two WB participants (to be decided upon awarding of the contact) as well as work from his/her place of residence.
Closing Date: Thursday, 28 February 2019, 23:55:00 GMT+0100 (Central European Standard Time)
