Eco Camp in Gusinje and Plav

o supported a four-day Eco Camp organized by the NGO Euromost for the third year in a row. The camp took place in Gusinje (valley Grebaje) and in Plav (nearby Hridsko Lake) from 29th of July to 01st of August 2022, gathering more than 80 young people from Montenegro, Serbia and Bosnia and Herzegovina.

Its goals were increasing young people’s understanding on intercultural competences through various joint outdoor activities. Eco Camp was also a great opportunity for all young people to get to know each other, socialize, enjoy nature, share their experiences, participate in various activities, gain new knowledge and make friendships.

The eco camp included various walking tours, a visit to the Hridsko Lake, visit to three peaks of Prokletije, a tour to the Plav Lake, discussions and intercultural & socializing activities.
The opening remarks were delivered by Head of the RYCO Local Branch Office in Montenegro Mr Edin Koljenović, President of the NGO Euromost Mr Almer Mekić, and President of the Municipality of Gusinje Ms Anela Čekić.

Mr Koljenović highlighted that that the topics of this Camp, besides the promotion of values of ecological sustainability and good practices of protecting the environment are also interplexed with intercultural motives being the key to regional cooperation. “Young people are an important part of the regional cooperation processes, crucial for making the region a better place, reducing prejudices and stereotypes, and building bridges of cooperation in different areas. That is why RYCO relies on you,” Mr Koljenović emphasized.

Ms Čekić took the opportunity to express the honour of supporting the Eco Kamp and witnessing the interest shown by young people from Montenegro, Serbia, Bosnia and Herzegovina on getting to know each other as well as the natural beauties of the this part of Montenegro, which sends an important messages on cooperation being a key to the overall progress.

President of the Euromost, Mr Mekić, highlighted in his opening speech that “there is no future without young people and that is societal responsibility to try to respond to their needs while creating simulative environment for their growth”.
