RYCO and UNICEF in Montenegro Discuss Cooperation

PODGORICA – Head of the RYCO Local Branch Office in Montenegro Mr Edin Koljenović met with the UNICEF Representative to Montenegro Mr Juan Santander and the UNICEF Adolescent Development Officer Mr Nikola Vulić on 9 February, to exchange ideas and possible plans for enhanced cooperation.

Mr Koljenović introduced the RYCO’s structure and mission as well as the upcoming projects and plans for 2021, emphasizing the importance of cooperation with UNICEF.

“I am thankful that UNICEF recognized RYCO as an important partner and provided administrative support to the RYCO Local Branch Office in Montenegro during 2020. I am hopeful that successful cooperation will continue in the future through numerous activities on both local and regional level,” Mr Koljenovic underlined.

Mr Santander and Mr Vulić recognized the importance of a regional mechanism such as RYCO and expressed positive affirmations to its long-term partnership with UNICEF.

“RYCO and UNICEF share common goals of cooperation in supporting young people in Montenegro, and we can complement each other’s efforts in this regard. Moreover, we see RYCO as an important actor for sharing the experience they have gained thus far, all with the aim of partnering with young people in Montenegro to foster dialogue, empowerment and participation,” Mr Santander emphasized.

During the meeting, various areas for joint actions in 2021 were discussed, and the willingness for regular communication was shown. It was agreed that cooperation should be intensified in the following period, as well as the practice of sharing the lessons learned.
