Over 25 years of experience in operations management, finance & accounting, HR, Grant Management, Procurement & Coordination, Capacity Building, IT, within international and local NGO sectors, diplomatic missions, NATO and UN mission to BiH, public local government sectors, as well as private sector in BiH and USA.

Local Program Officer, Sarajevo
Alen obtained MA in International Relations and Diplomacy at the Faculty of Political Science in Sarajevo and spent most of his professional life working in the field of youth work, regional cooperation and development of international projects.
Before joining RYCO Alen worked on coordination of the Initiative for monitoring the EU integration of Bosnia and Herzegovina, communicating closely with civil society organizations in the country and EU institutions in Brussels.
Alen volunteered for some time in Canada and completed an internship with UNDP. In 2022 Alen gave a speech in the EU Parliament, focusing on topics related to intercultural dialogue among youth and reconciliation efforts in the Balkans.
He is a co-author of publications and papers focusing primarily on the process of enlargement and EU integration.
Also, he had a chance to learn about RYCO's mission before, when he developed and coordinated the project implemented in Bosnia and Herzegovina, North Macedonia Serbia back in 2020 and 2021, supported by RYCO.
Alen became member of  RYCO team in March 2025 as Local Program Officer in Sarajevo.

Local Program Officer, Sarajevo

Ms Ćurulija has been engaged in the civil sector since 2018. She has started by volunteering in the Youth initiative for Human Rights in Bosnia and Herzegovina (YIHR BiH) where in 2019 she became a Program and Administration Assistant and held that position until 2022. Her main focus was organizing projects and working directly with youth on topics of human rights and dealing with the past. She has worked with various CSO’s in Bosnia and Herzegovina and the region as a youth worker and content creator.

As her main interest she highlights human rights and peace studies as her primary goal of practical and theoretical experience and research.

Ms Ćurulija holds a BA degree in International Relations and Diplomacy from the Faculty of Political Sciences of the University of Sarajevo. Within her studies she has also been an Erasmus exchange student at the Paris Lodron University Salzburg and Comenius University Bratislava. At the end of her studies she has been awarded a golden badge for being one of the top students. Beside her knowledge of Bosnian/Croatian/Serbian, she speaks fluent English and has a good understanding of German.


Head of Local Branch Office, Sarajevo

Mr. Kandić is a jurist, youth worker and storyteller from Bosnia and Herzegovina. He earned a master’s degree in civil and company law at the University of East Sarajevo. During his student period, he was president of the Student Assembly and began his career as a civil activist. Prior to his current position, he gained work experience by working in the Ministry of Justice of the Republika Srpska, UNHCR, and non-governmental organizations in BiH (Institute for Youth Development Kult, Youth Council of the Federation of BiH, Civitas BiH).

He is a member of the Youth Advisory Group at the OSCE Mission to Bosnia and Herzegovina, and was appointed as an ambassador of the EDYN network and a European youth ambassador for the Western Balkans by the European Commission. He is recognized as a youth leader and is the author of a number of researches, methodologies and programs in the field of youth work.

Fields of his work: media and information literacy, communications, youth policies, dealing with the past, regional cooperation, social innovations.
