Kosovo* Welcomes Launching of Superschools Exchange Scheme

PRISTINA The RYCO Local Branch Office in Kosovo has organized the opening event for the presentation of the Western Balkans School Exchange Scheme “Superschools” project which took place in Pristina on Tuesday, 12 October 2021.

The honored guests of the event, the Deputy Minister of Education, Science, Technology and Innovation of the Government of Kosovo Ms Edona Maloku Bërdyna, Head of the Delegation of the European Union to Kosovo H.E. Mr Tomáš Szunyog, Ambassador of the Federal Republic of Germany to Kosovo H.E. Mr Joern Rohde, and Ambassador of the Republic of France to Kosovo H.E. Ms Marie-Christine Butel together with Head of RYCO Local Branch Office in Kosovo Ms Krenare Gashi Krasniqi, delivered their opening remarks.

Ms Gashi Krasniqi opened the event and welcomed the distinguished guests on behalf of RYCO and its Local Branch Office in Pristina and passed the floor over to the deputy minister.

In her opening remarks, Ms Maloku Bërdyna, said that cultivating diversity, providing equal opportunities and inclusiveness are essential components of the strategic plan of the Ministry and this project fits well with their goals. She emphasized that MEST believes that through quality and inclusive education we help develop a society where everyone feels welcome, accepted and free to express themselves, as they are and as they want.

Ms Maloku Bërdyna thanked all the partners who are enabling the implementation of this important project for the youth of Western Balkans.

Ms Gashi Krasniqi thanked the Deputy Minister of Education, Science, Technology and Innovation for the overwhelming support in the process, for helping reach high schools in Kosovo, and for encouraging schools’ staff to cooperate and be part of this project. In continuation, she emphasized that the EU is one of the biggest supporters in the development of RYCO from its start, and not just in terms of financial support but also through other means. In that regard, she welcomed H.E. Mr Tomáš Szunyog.

H.E. Mr Tomáš Szunyog, highlighted the continuing support of the EU to RYCO and its mission on reconciliation and youth cooperation in the Western Balkans. Mr Szunyog added that he is looking forward to the many great experiences this project will provide to the youth across the region.

Meanwhile, the Ambassador of the Federal Republic of Germany to Kosovo H.E. Mr Joern Rohde empathized in his opening remarks that the Superschools project is yet another great initiative by RYCO. He added that the people to people contacts via school exchanges made Germany, France, and the EU the friends they are today.

The same excitement for the project has been shared by the Ambassador of the Republic of France to Kosovo H.E Ms Marie-Christine Butel who underlined the importance of bringing young people of high schools from Kosovo and the region together through such an important project as Superschools.

The opening event was concluded with RYCO Project Coordinator Mr Astrit Rexhepi and RYCO Local Program Officer Mr Ramadan Sokoli conducting a session with 20 directors of the Municipal Directorate of Education of Kosovo where they informed them about the Superschools project and the work of RYCO.
