Youth Leaders and RYCO in Kosovo* to Implement Project Ideas for Peace

PRIZREN – During January 2022, the RYCO Local Branch Office in Kosovo received project proposals by groups of young active and already established leaders on the topics of peace-building, intercultural dialogue, media literacy and advocacy.  The invitation for proposals is the result of a three-day training that the RYCO Local Branch Office in Kosovo organized in partnership with the OSCE Mission in Kosovo during December 2021.

The training program “Youth Leaders for Peace” contributed to the joint goal of RYCO and OSCE in Kosovo – strengthening and improving knowledge and skills of youth leaders in the fields of intercultural dialogue, media literacy and advocacy.

In their opening remarks, Head of the RYCO Local Branch Office in Kosovo Ms Krenare Gashi-Krasniqi and Director of Democratization Department of the OSCE Mission in Kosovo Mr Childerik Schaapveld emphasized the necessity of youth leaders taking an active role in promoting and transferring further the acquired knowledge to youth of their local communities, ensuring that more young people join bridging the gap between communities.

Another goal of the training, which gathered 24 young women and men, was to involve them directly in the design process of one of the local activities and give them the ownership, given their crucial role in building and promoting sustainable and inclusive peace in Kosovo.

Under the supervision of an expert, the young leaders worked in small groups in brainstorming and designing actionable and youth-friendly activities which could be implemented in their local communities.

The best chosen ideas will be jointly implemented by RYCO and the winning teams in the upcoming months.
